High River RCMP and the fire department are hoping to educate parents about car-seat safety.

Corporal Blair Schneider says they're teaming up to host a car-seat clinic in September where they'll be checking to make sure car seats are up-to-par.

"We want to make sure that everybody has the proper seat, that it's installed properly and is facing the right way," he says. "We want to make sure everybody's safe."

He says you can get fined for not having a proper car seat, but he stresses that this will not be the case at the clinic.

"Don't feel intimidated that the police and the fire department are there," he says. "Nothing will happen to you and no one is going to get charged."

This free event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire hall in High River on Sept. 12.

Residents are asked to bring their children with them to the clinic.
