The World of Choices 2017 Career Forum brought together 39 mentors from all walks of life to meet with 200 students and talk about their future careers.

"We set it up in a round table format," said organizer Timmi Shorr. "Then the students have about 20 minutes with each mentor, it's kind of like speed dating."

Students then get to ask the mentors anything they like.

"How much do you get paid? What does a day look like? Do you like your job? What was your journey to get there? Really ho holds barred."

They try to cover a third of traditional, non-traditional and emerging careers.

They had engineers, doctors, nurses, trades like automotive services and service support.

"We also looked at the arts.  We had Rosebud Theatre looking at acting...artists with their own businesses."

There were also people involved in radio. social media, digital marketing, human resources, RCMP and the military.

Shorr says there were two cool sports tables, from the Okotoks Dawgs and the Calgary Flames and Calgary Stampeders, where they talked to students about careers in developing athletes in sport.

The theme of the fair was "The 4th Industrial Revolution - Are you Ready."

"You have to look at what is going on out in the world," Shorr said. "They say you are going to be able to 3D print a liver and put it in someone which is crazy."

Technology was the third revolution and the fourth is the next level, which will change the way the world works yet again.

"It creates a lot of opportunity, but it also alters the type of job skills they have to have in order to be successful."

She added there is going to be a whole layer of employees and jobs that are not going to exist anymore.
