Alberta Agriculture Minister Oneil Carlier is spending the summer talking to farmers and ranchers.

He was front at the centre at the Calgary Stampede this past week and says farmers are the first to realize their business doesn't stop at their fence line.

"Farming is absolutely a way of life. Nobody makes a living on way of life, it's a business. So, people are really engaged and interested in market access. What's happening with the trade agreements? What's happening around the politics around the world and how's it going to affect those trade agreements? So, I'm really looking forward to doing what I can to work with the Federal Government and governments around the world on making sure we can have access to markets and grow our products."

Carlier will be in High River on Monday, July 18 to tour the Cargill plant.
