The Dewdney Players Theatre Group is getting into the St. Patrick's Day spirit with their latest production.

Nicola Payton, director, says despite what the title Lafferty's Wake may imply, it'll leave the audience in high spirits.

"Lafferty's Wake is basically what it says it is. We are waking Charlie Lafferty who has died and his family and friends have gathered to do a proper Irish wake, so it's lots of singing and dancing and fun, it's not somber and sober, it's a good laugh."

Payton says the production will take place at the Royal Duke Hotel Eatery and Pub which creates the ideal atmosphere.

"Last time we did Lafferty's Wake we actually did it in the Elks Hall and we had to create the look of a pub so this time we're in a bar," she says. "It looks like a traditional Irish bar so we don't have to worry about tables and chairs, is there a bar or is there stools, it's all right there for us and it's the perfect setting for this fun show that's set in a pub."

Tickets for Lafferty's Wake are already sold out for St. Patrick's Day on Mar. 17 and Payton says show times for other dates are selling quickly.

Other dates include Mar. 10, 11, 16, 18, 23, 24, 25 with the show starting at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for adults are $20 and seniors and students are $15.
