The Centre Street bridge in High River is closing again this week.

The Town will shut it down at midnight Tuesday, August 14 at 11:59 p.m. and it won't open again until Friday, August 17 at 11:59 p.m.

It's an unscheduled closure, but one that's needed to wrap up some necessary work.

The Town's Director of Engineering Riley McKeracher says the closure will allow contractors to complete the tie-in of the existing dry-well on the southeast side of the bridge to an existing storm basin on the southwest side.

They'll also use the closure as a chance to complete the cut-off wall for the flood gates which they couldn't finish during the last closure thanks to some unexpected soil conditions under the road.

Detours will again be in place, particularly the one sending traffic up 3rd Avenue to 5th Street and North to 498th Avenue.

The Town will close the bridge twice more in September and October before wrapping up construction.
