If you haven't noticed already High River's smack in the middle of summer construction season, with plenty of streets blocked off for repairs.

The one that's causing the biggest headache for most is the flood gate installation on the Centre Street Bridge.

High River's Acting Manager of Engineering Services, Jim Duckworth, says he knows it's inconvenient, but the way they've got it set up to accommodate traffic during construction is as good as it could be.

"The one way traffic has been the best approach that we've found to accommodate traffic through there. It is inconvenient, but with the temporary signal that was put up there, it's accommodating traffic both ways in a one lane scenario. And it's safe as long as people observe the green and red light."

He says outside of a few days where the bridge will be completely shut down, the project will be done by October.
