After months of uncertainty and word the Canadian Finals Rodeo could head to Saskatoon, a deal has recently been signed to keep it in Edmonton.

Jeff Robson was in on the negotiations and says they had to take all the different stakeholders into consideration.

"So when you look at it you say 'who are the stakeholders' well the stakeholders are the stock contractors, there's cowboys, there's committees, there's obviously sponsors, there's a lot of things at play here," Robson says. "So we looked at it and said 'how do we come up with the best strategy for everyone involved and how do we do what's right for everybody."

He says there's equal money for team ropers which had been an issue for years and money is being put aside to help out communities that host rodeos all year long.

But Robson says that's not the only reason they stuck with the provincial capital.

"The City of Edmonton and Northlands developed the Edmonton Rodeo Cowboy Benevolent Fund," he says "That fund has grown over the years, they've fundraised, they've done that themselves, there's a great nest egg in that fund to support, not only sports medicine but our cowboys that have injuries, that was another key component."

This years CFR runs from Wednesday to Sunday.
