The Chamber of Commerce luncheon speaker series got off to a good start for the first meeting in 2018 last week.

Guest speaker Jodi Dawson, manager of economic development for the Town of High River shared a lot of information with the group.

President Steven Muth says it was a great meeting.

"Today's presentation by Jodi Dawson from the Town of High River was awesome," said Muth. "It was great to see the turnout we had."

Almost 50 people came out to hear her talk.

"The biggest reason we at the Chamber feel it is important to have someone like Jodi Dawson or someone from council, as Craig Snodgrass is going to speak next month, is it's important that people hear it straight from the horses mouth. It is important that we cut out the rumours."

He added small towns are great for rumours.

"I heard this, I heard this, if the Chamber can facilitate those discussions, you have the opportunity ask those questions or see them afterwards and have that conversation. That is what we want to do to get the right information out so we can all be pulling from the same direction."

The next lunch meeting is February 22 with High River Mayor Craig Snodgrass speaking.
