Looks like things will be changing in High River

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says he's looking forward to what the new Economic Development Officer, Shawna Stonehouse, has in store.

"The thing that I'm getting more and more excited about every day is talking with Shawna. She's a bright, bright person that's been through this for a long, long time and knows what works and what doesn't."

He says High River's economic situation is not a result of the 2013 flood.

"There's going to be some hard change that's going to have to take place for High River to really get on the map and be business-friendly. It's not something that we were really good at before the flood. This has nothing to do with the flood, in fact."

Snodgrass says he's excited for the town's future after talking to the town's Economic Development Officer.

"The more I talk to her the more excited I get, and I get a little smirk because I'm all up for change. I like change, but I know how hard it is to bring people along that journey. We can't sit here and continue to do things the way we have for the last 20 or 30 years and expect it to change. So, we've got to do something different."

The goal is to get High River on the map and make the town more business-friendly.
