The High River RCMP, local Sheriffs and the fire department are getting together this Saturday to conduct a child car seat clinic.

Corporal Blair Schneider says Len Wagner from Alberta Transportation, an expert in child car seat safety will be there. He says Wagner will make sure seats are not expired, they're installed correctly and that the child is in the proper car seat.

Cpl. Schneider says it's vital seats are able to do the job they're intended to do.

"Last year, about the same time, we did a clinic and we inspected 28 vehicles and three car seats were installed so poorly that, Len Wagner was also on hand and he said, that if those vehicles were involved in a collision there would be a high potential for infant fatalities," he says.

Cpl. Schneider says no infractions will be handed out at the clinic, they just want to make sure children are safe when they're buckled in.

It's free and it goes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire hall Saturday September 17..
