The Town of Claresholm is looking at opening a new Town Office in a renovated school building.

Mayor Doug MacPherson says they are looking at construction of a new town office, daycare and FCSS facility.

"We are just going through the process now of getting it designed," said MacPherson. "It is a school that we are planning on renovating and turning into a multi-use facility. But it's still in the planning stage right now."

He adds the facility is necessary because the current building was built in the 1920s and it's not in great shape.

"The daycare and the playschool are both struggling. We are going to have to do some major renovations if we stay in the building."

Once the design process wraps up it will be about 18 months to complete the renovations on the school so they could have it up and running in two years.

"That's the hope. We approved the project in principal and have set a budget on it."

The new location would also be visible from Highway 2.

"I think it is going to be great for the Town. It is going to be visible from the highway and we are certainly going to try and make it attractive from the outside so when you are driving through town you can see it."
