The High River airport is clear for take off, landing and now parking.

President of the High River Regional Airport Steff Stephansson says it's just another way the town continues to grow.

"The Town of High River and the MD of Foothills have approved the establishment of aviation parking for an additional thirteen aircraft at the the airport. It's an expansion of what we already have."

He says with the additional spaces it will now allow parking for thirty-nine aircraft.

Stephansson says this will help clean up the ramp and apron areas providing more room to accommodate airport traffic.

He says they need the room in order to keep up with the traffic.

"We're probably seeing a dozen to twenty-five movements a day. On the weekends it gets a little bit busier."

He says the MD of Foothills will be building the spaces and the project should be completed by this spring. He says the growth will bring business from the skies.

"The airport is a benefit for the town and the Municipal District of Foothills but it's a public facility as well."

He says with more charters and aircraft stopping for maintenance purposes it can't help but bring more income to local businesses.
