Now that Spring has finally arrived it is time for the 14th Annual Community Green Sweep and electronics recycling roundup.

On Saturday, May 5, volunteers will be cleaning up green spaces around town, to rid them of all the unsightly trash that's built up over the winter.

High River's Interim Senior Communications Advisor Claire Halpin says there's been a few changes this year.

"The event has moved away from the fire hall for this year and it will be at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex," said Halpin. "It will be at the parking lot by the baseball diamonds."

Volunteers are asked to meet at 9 a.m. for a free breakfast and safety orientation before heading out into the community to clean up.

The Community Green Sweep will also include the electronics round up.

Residents can drop off televisions, computer monitors, desktop computers, servers, laptops, notebooks, tablets, keyboards, mice, computer speakers, cables desktop printers, scanners, fax machines, photocopiers and multifunction printers.

“This year, we have also partnered with eCycle Solutions and Alberta Recycling to provide additional education to residents about how to optimize recycling opportunities," said Halpin.

Volunteers can also return to the Rec-plex at noon for a community lunch.
