The Little Britches weekend in High River has 59 years of history to live up to.

And this year the event has been one for the record books, with lots of activities taking place besides the headlining parade and rodeo.

It started with the George Lane A-Go-Go Friday night and featured The River of Music Festival with busker's and food trucks, The Battle of the Bands in the George Lane Park and the Cultural Taste of High River on Saturday.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says the weather helped to pull everything together.

"We are going to have a lot of fun," Snodgrass said. " We had a good party in the park (Friday night) and it is going to continue on till Monday night."

Caitland Asmundson with the Town of High River said having residents come forward and take on organizing events makes the weekend even better.

"It is great to see citizens coming forward with different ideas and they put them into action and make them happen. That is what is so special about High River."
