Everyone running for High River Town Council is pretty much in agreement the Town needs some new recreation facilities like a pool and ice rinks.

The debate comes on what we need, and how are we going to pay for it?

Cathy Couey, looking for her second term on Council, says we need to be smart about it.

"We need to do it, looking at what the real needs of the community are. And I think we also need to look at what we can sustain and what we can manage. We all want the big leisure centre with all the rinks and all these other activities, but the reality is, we're also 13-thousand people. And so we also need to be able to sustain those and keep them going."

Couey says outside of the southwest berm and downtown parking issues, she hasn't come across any divisive issues heading into the election.
