The Town of Okotoks has weighed in on the lack of new seating at Seaman Stadium heading into the season.

Councillor Tanya Thorn says the Town is very willing to work with the Dawgs and actually approved the development permit for the extra seats along the first baseline back in March.

But she says the Province's building code requires they put in extra washroom facilities as part of the addition.

"The Town and the Dawgs mutually decided that we would delay putting in these seats so that we could appeal the building code requirements and file a joint appeal for that on the requirements for the additional bathrooms."

Thorn says they could have gone ahead and built the seating, but they would have had to have added portable washroom facilities which she says neither they or the Dawgs wanted.

Thorn says she doesn't know how long the appeal process will take, or what the Town's chances of success are.
