The Town of High River is looking for creative people with a knack for naming things.

The Town's Economic and Development Department is looking for a name and a logo for the new broadband initiative.

They're hosting name and logo contest where the winner can earn a new Ipad.

Manager of Economic Development with the Town, Jodi Dawson, says the Town is looking for a name and visual identity to describe the project to provide broadband services to the community.

"What we are doing is we are asking for the community to submit ideas on what this service should be called and what the logo should look like to represent this out into the marketplace," said Dawson.

They're asking residents to suggest an appropriate name for the project, as well as design a creative, innovative and a professional logo.

"I have had two submissions so far. I am excited to see how the community takes the notion of innovation and the uniqueness of High River and works that into what an Internet service would look like. I'm excited to see what people come up with."

Dawson says the name and logo should be recognizable and help promote the town’s mission for the project, ‘to create an environment where reliable and affordable high speed broadband (Internet) services are available to businesses in the Town located within the identified business districts.’ Connection to the Economic Development themes of ‘Progressive, Invested, Purposeful’ is also desired.

The contest is open now and submissions will be accepted through Friday, May 11.

In order for entries to be submitted and reviewed, all entries must be:

Submitted directly to High River Economic Development, business@highriver.ca
Submitted in their original source file and
Submitted as a high resolution .pdf file with 300 dpi or higher.

Submissions must also include the full name, address and telephone number of the submitter.

The winner will be announced after the High River Council meeting on Monday, May 14 and the contest winner will receive a new Ipad.
