Thanks to the quick actions of a trio of fire departments, a house off Highway 547 just East of Aldersyde is still standing after a structure fire Thursday night.

Okotoks Fire Chief Ken Thevenot has the details.

"Upon arrival, there was a shed close to a house that was fully engulfed," he says. "The shed was approximately 10 by 15, and was situated about three feet from the house. There was some, but minimal damage to the house."

Thevenot says it took a large group effort to get the fire under control.

"There was another fire department that helped us out with the water truck, they brought a fire truck out to us, that was Blackie Fire," he says. "In total, we had 11 Okotoks fire fighters, we had three Blackie fire fighters, and we had one fire fighter from the M.D."

Thevenot says that group effort between the three fire departments is what kept the situation from being much worse than it was.

"The crews had (the fire extinguished) fairly quickly, so the damage, again, was very minimal to the house," he says. "Crews were on scene for approximately two hours."

Thevenot says at this point, the fire appears to be accidental, but there will be an investigation to determine the exact cause.
