Fathers and daughters always have special relationships but one High River duo has proven their bound is especially strong.

When Amanda Kemery saw how long the wait was going to be for her father Terry Coleman to get a kidney transplant she didn't think twice about volunteering to be a living donor.

The testing process took a full year and on August 9 they had the surgery.

Daughter and granddaughter Allana Mueller says they were both up asking for their glasses and their phones soon after the surgery.

"About a year ago they were talking about Poppa Ter having pretty low percentage of his kidneys left so mom (Amanda) decided to get tested to see if she was a match," said Mueller.

They will both be in the hospital for up to a week and it will take at least six weeks to recover.
