The High River and District Health Care Foundation is out to make delivering babies an even better experience.

Cathy Couey with the Foundation says they're working to improve the 30 year old facilities that are well used now by making the labour and delivery rooms bigger.

"I think probably when  the hospital was built not too many dads were participating in those labour and deliveries, where today now it's dads, it's families there's support teams in there now," she says. "There'll be labour and delivery tubs in every room, we're one of two or three facilities in the province that will offer that."

She says about 400 babies are delivered there each year with the capacity to grow to 600.

She says everyone at the hospital is very excited about the work with some of the preliminary drawings already up and the final drawings expected soon.

Their annual Dinner and Auction is coming up October 21 at the Highwood Memorial Centre and this year they'll be celebrating Canada's 150th.
