Alberta Environment and Parks are asking anglers to do fish a favour as significantly lower river flows and higher-than-normal water temperatures are threatening the health of Alberta’s fish populations.

They are urging anglers to follow safe handling procedures related to catch-and-release fishing to minimize fish mortality. They're also asked to exercise additional care when fishing in zones along the eastern slopes.

To minimize risk to fish, anglers are encouraged to fish in stocked ponds and lakes, fish before 2 p.m. and minimize handling time and release fish as quickly as possible.
