Time is running out to Nominate your volunteer ‘stars’ of the year.

Nominations need to be in by March 18 so the winners can be honoured during volunteer week from April 7th to the 13th.

Kara Rusk, manager of legislative services for the Town said the ‘Stars of High River’ theme will again be used to recognize the volunteers who make a difference in the community every day.

“Whether it’s shoveling a neighbour’s sidewalk, sitting on a board or committee, or donating their time to a local non-profit, sports team, or community group, we want to take the opportunity to publicly recognize and reward our volunteer stars,” Rusk said.

Nomination forms are available now and will be accepted until March 18.

All nominees will be announced via Facebook Live with Our High River’s Jody Seeley on March 19 and the Volunteer of the Year winners in each category will be announced at the Volunteer Appreciation Celebration on April 9.

Community volunteers, board and committee members who meet the following criteria are eligible for the awards:

Demonstrates initiative, leadership and creativity in their service to others;

Serves as a role model for others in the community;

Inspires others to engage in volunteer service;

Improves the overall quality of life of fellow citizens and the community as a whole.

When nominating volunteers there are five categories to choose from:

Youth/Young Adult - 13-19 years

Adult - 20-64 years

Senior - 65+ years

Family/Group, and Business

One nominee from each category will be chosen as a winner.

Nomination forms, as well as more information on all National Volunteer Week activities can be found on the Town of High River Website.

Nomination forms can also be picked up in-person at the Town Office at 309B Macleod Trail S.W. or the and FCSS offce at 303 9 Avenue S.W.
