A man from Duchess is recovering in hospital after being assaulted after confronting two men who were trying to steal a truck.

Brooks RCMP are investigating the incident which appended just before 2 a.m. Wednesday morning and caused a 32 year-old man to be transported to a Calgary hospital, with life threatening injuries.

The RCMP responded to a 911 call from a residence on Railway Avenue in Duchess where two male suspects were attempting to steal a truck and when they were confronted by a bystander they assaulted the male.  The two males then fled in a vehicle.  

RCMP arrived to find a 32-year-old male victim in medical distress and suffering from life threatening injuries.

He was transported to a Calgary hospital where he is now deemed to be in stable condition.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit, RCMP Forensic Identification Unit, Brooks RCMP General Investigation Section, and several Brooks RCMP members have been engaged in the investigation.  

Extensive patrols were made to try to locate the vehicle, but it was not located.  No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
