On time, and on budget.

Words we seldom hear when it comes to road construction, but it's the case with the work being done on Hwy 2A at Dunbow Rd.

Along with the installation of lights, the intersection itself is being reconstructed to allow for safer turns.

M.D. of Foothills' Supervisor of Infrastructure and Public Works, Jeff Edgington, says everything's running smoothly, and should be completed by the end of Summer.

"The intersection, the (company's) contract has to have them completed, all the groundwork done by Aug. 1," he says. "That's the latest they can be completed by. Then, we have the lighting contractor come in, who only has a week or two worth of work to put the lights up."

M.D. Reeve Larry Spilak, who's been pushing for lights at the dangerous intersection for a long time, says he's happy to see it finally happen.

"It's very nice to see the progress taking place," he says. "This has been a three year challenge, and of course there's been some pushback some residents, and I can understand that, nobody likes to be slowed down in traffic, everybody's in a hurry to get somewhere. But, there's an issue on that corner, we've had a few casualties, we've had many many accidents, and it's just a place where more was going to happen."

The speed limit on that stretch of Hwy 2A will remain 80 km/h as construction continues.
