Ron Schmidt had some special guests come out to a floor hockey game to challenge the Foothills Eagles Special Olympics team in a floor hockey game.

Six members of the High River Flyers came out  to play.

"The Eagles beat them 17 to 4, and our team was just thrilled," Schmidt said.

Some of the members of the Eagles have trouble walking and the Flyers were great at letting them get by and get a goal.

"The goalie was fabulous he would fly through the air and then the puck would go by him. He was awesome."

He added Eagles have a great time during games like this one.

"They love to play celebrity type people,"  he added.

The Foothills Special Olympics organization have 12 athletes taking part in floor hockey, 50 in bowling and 20 come out for the summer baseball program.

They also get lots of support from service groups in town.

But it would be great to have more groups come out and play floor hockey with them.

"We are always looking for anybody who would like to come out and play us.  We would like to do that."

They meet every Wednesday night at 6:30 at Senator Riley School.
