The Town of High River will be testing their outdoor emergency notification systems, or sirens, as part of their annual maintenance of the equipment this month.

The test will go Wednesday, July 4 at Noon.

The sirens will run for about three minutes so the Town can make sure the repairs worked out and the equipment's in good working order.

“This test is for the outdoor sirens only and will not include a test of the regional or High River Alert systems,” says Peter Genereux, Manager of Emergency Management and Protective Services for the Town.

In the event of a real emergency, the sirens would sound continuously and be partnered with other notification systems, like High River Alert.

The sirens are tested three times a year on the first Wednesday of January, May and September.
