The Alberta Energy Regulator is holding a pair of meetings locally regarding Lexin Resources.

Cara Tobin with the regulator's public affairs department says they'll be discussing the company's insolvency.

"Staff from the Alberta Energy Regulator, the Surface Rights Board, the Orphan Well Association and the Farmer's Advocate Office will be available to answer questions and provide some information," she says.

Lexin Resources has agreed voluntarily to include its related entities into the receivership process and to cooperate in addressing safety issues at the Lexin sites. On June 13, the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta approved the addition which enables the received to move forward with the sale of Lexin's licensed assets.

Tobin says the majority of Lexin's licenses are in the local area which is why the meetings are being held in Vulcan and Cayley.

The meetings go from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 27 at the Vulcan Lodge Hall and Wednesday June 28 at the Cayley Oddfellows Hall.
