A head on collision left one dead and two critically injured Friday afternoon.

Emergency services were on scene at the collision which occurred at approximately 3:35 on Highway 7 just East of Black Diamond.

According to eyewitness reports, the collision occurred when one vehicle drifted toward the centre lane into oncoming traffic.

The driver of that car, a seventeen year old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene, and her fourteen year old passenger was rushed to hospital.

The 42 year old driver of another vehicle was airlifted to Foothills Hospital via STARS Air Ambulance.

A third vehicle was involved, with the sole occupant only receiving minor injuries.
