The Liberal government's throne speech has few specifics but quite a few promises.

They plan to create a million more jobs and provide supports for almost every part of the economy.

The Speech from the Throne promises support to businesses forced to close under local health orders and an extension of emergency COVID-19 supports.

They also say a national daycare plan is coming, along with help for long term care, hit especially hard by the pandemic.

However Justin Trudeau says there isn't a lot that can be done unless COVID-19 is brought under control.

There are no price tags or timelines included in the speech.

The federal Conservatives and the Bloc have come out opposing the Liberal throne speech.

NDP leader Jagmeet Singh says he's waiting to see actual legislation come forward with help for Canadians out of work because of the pandemic and to see if other long standing promises are kept, like support for a national daycare program or pharmacare.

He says if those things aren't included in actual bills brought to a vote, the NDP will decide whether to support the government although he says he's not afraid of going to the polls.
