The Salvation Army is hoping everyone in High River can pitch in a little bit,  to help get big results for the Food Bank drive on Saturday May 13.

It is part of Love High River, if you leave a bag of groceries on your doorstep, volunteers in red t-shirts will pick it up.

The event is also part of the community clean up scheduled for the weekend.

"This is an event put on by Love High River," said Lt. Kelly Fifield.

Red bags were delivered to High River homes earlier this week with a list of instructions stapled to it.

All you have to do is fill the bag and leave it outside before 9 A,M.

"Every year we have tried to do a food drive and some years it has been amazing and it has really filled up our shelves and other years it has been a little bit harder to get those donations."

With the economy still struggling, it could be a little harder to fill the shelves, but this year the need is even greater as more families than ever need the service.

They need only non-perishable items in the red bags like beans, soup, Kraft dinner, baking supplies and things for kids for snacks.

"Those are things we are still in need of."

If your home gets missed take your donation to the food bank or drop it off in a donation bin in one of the local grocery stores.
