The final push is on for the Salvation Army to get toys together before Christmas.

Not only do they collect toys for younger children but they also accept gifts for teens.

Lieutenant Kelly Fifield says there's specific items they'd still like to see come in for high school aged youth.

"They're the hardest ones to buy for which is part of the reason we don't always see those items come in," she says. "We're always looking for items that would be appropriate for teenagers, whether that be gift cards, headphones, bluetooth speakers, toiletry kits, pyjamas, or clothing items."

Fifield says despite a tough year financially for many people the Salvation Army has still seen a lot of support for their toy drives.

"It's kind of hard when people are struggling to know the support that we're going to receive in getting those donations but we've had some really good toy drives, we've had some businesses step up and be able to really support us this year and we count on those things in order to support our community."

A toy drive is still taking place with Big Rock Communications and Southridge Chrysler to Pack a Pick-Up with toy donations at the businesses.
