The High River Fire Department is hoping to find a a few snow angels to ensure the fire hydrants are clear of snow.

Fire Chief Len Zebedee says it has been awhile since we have had this much snow and the department has seen a few hydrants that are completely buried.

"If they could clean in and around the fire hydrants in their area, if they are getting covered with snow, that would be greatly appreciated," said Zebedee.

If there was a fire in your neighbourhood valuable minutes can be saved if the hydrant is clear from snow and ice.

The department is trying to check on the hydrants around town but it can take a lot of time.

"Anytime somebody can help us by removing the snow around the hydrant in their area, they would be great snow angels."

Zebedee adds when the snow starts to melt it will cause even more problems.

"That snow will get hard packed around hydrants as they start to melt and freeze and thaw it will just get that much harder to get the snow away from the hydrants as time goes on."
