The Town of High River says the mould problem that was plaguing the fire hall isn't a problem anymore.

The Town's Director of Planning and Operations, Reiley McKerracher, says they have another issue keeping fire fighters from making full use of the hall once again.

"The mould at the fire hall has been all addressed. At this point we are mould free. We have not put staff back in there. The areas that we took down and stripped to get rid of the mould are still stripped. We are currently having a discussion with (High River) Council about what it looks like when we put everything back together. And so, we are waiting on that discussion, until we do any further work."

McKerracher says there have been plans to upgrade and expand the fire hall, and now may be the best time to do it, instead of putting everything back together, only to rip it apart again in a couple of years.

McKerracher says the fire hall was always safe, and once they found out about the mould issues, they moved staff out of the affected areas and started on the clean-up, so fire fighters and other staff were never in any danger.
