Starting on Tuesday, Sept. 6, the road closure on 1 Street S.W. will extend from Macleod Trail S.W. south to 6 Avenue S.W. This closure is necessary to allow crews to finish the concrete intersections at 4, 5 and 6 Avenues S.W.

Downtown will be accessible to vehicles and pedestrians via Macleod Trail S.W., 3 Avenue S.W. and 7 Avenue S.W. Work is expected to take two to three weeks to complete, weather permitting.

The majority of this work will be complete by September 25 to accommodate the Car Show.

Once the concrete is poured, it needs to cure for seven days before it is strong enough for vehicles to drive on. During this time, you will notice little activity in the construction areas. This is a necessary step to ensure the concrete is up to code and ready for vehicle traffic.

Drivers and pedestrians are asked to use caution, obey construction signage, and watch for heavy equipment and trucks operating in the area.
