Students are just a few days away from returning to class in the Foothills School Division.

Assistant Superintendent Drew Chipman says it's been a busy summer doing work at local schools.

"We've been doing flood mitigation work as well, and that works been done at Spitzee, at Ecole Joe Clark and at Senator Riley school, so we've been getting a lot of work done over the summer," Chipman says. "We've also been putting boilers in Longview and Cayley schools."

He says at Spitzee they moved the mechanical room up from the basement and at Joe Clark and Senator Riley they've moved the heating ducts from below grade and put them in the ceiling to keep dampness out and to improve air quality in the buildings.

He says it won't stop future flooding but will allow them to get back in much quicker than before.
