The generosity of High River residents was on full display again this past weekend.

Cathy Anderson of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints says their food drive was another success bringing in 13,070 pounds of food.

"It was great, it was about 600 pounds less than last year so all things pandemic considered we feel very good about how High River did in supporting the event, as really they always do," she says. "We started out being a little bit nervous as some of the routes were coming back in and there wasn't a lot of bags, as competitive as I am I try not to get too worried about that because things always work out in the end and they sure did work out."

In 2019 they collected about nine thousand pounds of food and then the total unexpectedly ballooned last year during the height of the pandemic, so being down a bit, Anderson says, really isn't too disappointing.

The majority of volunteers come from the Church congregations, who also bring along friends and family to help out.

She thanks No Frills for donating the bags and Highwood Printing for their help in making the food drive as successful as it's been.
