A great day last Thursday in High River for the annual "Food Mountain" Food Bank drive.

Close to seven thousand dollars was raised in cash donations with another three full truckloads of food heading off to the High River Food Bank.

No Frills Owner Stephen Charland says the community stepped up big time.

"Every truck that came got filled right up to the hilt. We also sponsored a BBQ to help raise some cash donations. We were able to raise a little bit of money, plus all the cash donations we were doing at the point of sale at our checkouts, asking some of our customers if they wanted to give a small donation. In doing so wee were able to raise $450 in cash, plus all the food we had as well. So, we found that be a huge success and we look forward to doing it again next year.

Charland says the plan is to team up with the Food Bank earlier in the year and make it a full day family fun event with even more entertainment and activities for the kids.
