Annexation talks between Foothills County and the Town of High River are continuing.

County Reeve Larry Spilak says they had first reading of the proposed annexation of land along 112th Street Northeast in particular.

He says one landowner, Myles Ewankow, remains opposed to being annexed into the Town.

"There are some landowners in there who are not pleased with being annexed and there are most in there that are very pleased. Our challenge now is to try and change things appropriately so that everybody is happy with the plan."

Ewankow has made no secret of the fact he has no interest in having his property annexed into the Town.

Spilak says it's now up to Council to try and work something out between themselves, the landowner and the Town.

"That's really the ultimate goal is to have everybody walk away from the table feeling comfortable and we're going to speak to the Town (of High River) and see if there is any wiggle room at all in making things more comfortable for that specific landowner."

The county is also going through an annexation process with the Town of Black Diamond which Spilak says is coming closer to happening.
