After a delayed date of completion the Foothills Kinettes are set to open the Water Tower Park at the end of September.

Chairperson for the project Jenny Jones says the date of opening might be sooner.

"The park will be done next week and we want to have a grand opening event on September 22. It's open to the general public on the corner of 3 Avenue and 8 Street."

Jones says she's glad the project is nearing its completion but there were some delays that impeded its progress.

"Well it was supposed to be completed by the end of August, we are a little behind, removal of the water tower was a bit longer than originally anticipated, we were hoping even last year that this project could have been done."

Jones says the Kinettes made good use of the extra time.

"Through everything else we had an extra year of fundraising, we did a bunch of community engagements to figure out what they thought should go in the park, and with the funding that we did have I think we came up with some really great ideas."

Jones says the Kinettes intend to further upgrade the park.

"We kind of hope to continually add to the park and we have some ideas on what to work on because the space is quite large."
