The former three term Mayor of High River and one of it's most recognizable residents, Eldon Couey, passed away Friday, January 11.

The 88 year old guided High River FROM 1989 to 1998 as Mayor.

He was also the owner of Couey Auctions.

His daughter, Cathy Couey, is a current member of High River Town Council.

Couey was predeceased by his wife in 2015.

A memorial for Eldon will be held Wednesday, January 16, at 1 o'clock at the Highwood Memorial Centre.
