High River's Friends of the Library are getting ready for their annual general meeting on March 30. While the library receives basic local and provincial funding, the Friends of the Library are the fundraising team for anything from bookshelves and chairs to computers. Library Program Coordinator Joyce Brown says they support the library in other ways as well.

"They have a society, and we can do casinos and they do the book sales and they run a raffle once a year. You know, a few things like that, they're often on hand to help out if we have anything going on and just generally support the library."

Brown says there are many ways for people to get involved.

"The library is a community building, so we really do look for input from everybody on what would make the library better and more welcoming. We're also just looking for people who would like to participate and join the friends."

She says everyone is welcome to attend.

"It's open to anybody and everybody. (We) welcome all their input. If they have fundraising ideas, sometimes they even just have more ideas on maybe what they'd like to see as programs or different people that they'd like to come in."

The AGM will be held at 7 p.m. at the High River Library.
