The search for a new superintendent at the Foothills School Division could take a bit of time.

The board did not renew their contract with former superintendent John Bailey over the summer.

Board Chair Larry Albrecht says they are looking at hiring a consultant to find them find the right person to fill the job.

"We want to do it right, " said Albrecht. "We have a position profile now."

The profile outlines what the board is looking for in a candidate and what are the roles and responsibilities of the position.

The board agreed to take their time with the search so they can find the right person for the job.

"We believe it is going to take a little bit of time. So we don't want to have any false hope that we are going to have somebody hired by Chirstmas time. If that happened that would be wonderful."

Albrecht said they are lucky that Acting Superintendent Pamela Rannelli has agreed to stay in the role until a replacement is found.

"She has agreed to stay with us until the end of the school year, so we are not in a panic situation at all. We have the time and we want to take the time to do a good job."
