Freezers at the Okotoks Food Bank shouldn't fall short on meat anytime soon thanks to the Okotoks Rotary Club.

The Rotary Club's annual Mac N' Cheese Luncheon in April brought in just under $5,000 which went towards purchasing meat for the food bank.

Sandi Kennedy, Rotarian, says the food bank recently received their first generous shipment.

"The first delivery was 700lbs and Hirsche Fraser Meats threw in a little extra for us when they did up the order and upon delivery we actually received a little more than we were spending so we were pretty excited about that."

As the food bank makes it's way through the first shipment they will continue to be restocked until they go through the fully donated amount.

Kennedy says the club loves to support the food bank.

"We really love working with them, particularly with Sheila Hughes," she says. "They're a great group and there's so many wonderful volunteers down there. When the meat was delivered there was many hands to help and it was a great experience."

Each year the Okotoks Rotary Club holds the Mac N' Cheese Luncheon during the third week in April.
