The Town of High River is looking for public input on the future of recreation facilities in the town.

Tracy Morgan, Recreation and Administration and Programming Supervisor with the Town says consultants hired by the town will be gathering input at a pair of sessions Tuesday November 14.

"We want to hear from our users, I know that our user groups have already spoken to the consultants, so we want to hear from the town citizens as well," she says. "What do you use our facilities for, what would you like to see happen in the future, what's the sustainability of this building (the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex) and where we're going."

Morgan says they need to know the needs of their clientele and what they'd like to see in the future.

The Town will be working with Gibbs Gage Architects on this project.

"They're basically asking those same questions, what's the future recreational needs of High River, what do you see happening, where would you like to see us go, what types of facilities are sustainable, if there is a possibility of a new facility or re-purposing of our current facilities, what would our citizens like to see," Morgan says.

She says this is the beginning of what's expected to be a long process, many years before any decisions are made and shovels hit the dirt.

The consultants will put together their report and it'll be presented to the public and town council sometime early in 2018.

The first open house session goes Tuesday, November 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the second from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Bob Snodgrass Rec-Plex.
