It's taken awhile, but Vulcan Television's "Galaxy Trek" is all set to make it's premiere this weekend, Saturday, March 18, in Calgary.

Vern Wutzke wrote and directed the episode and says the premiere started out as just a "friends and family" thing, but has grown from there.

"A lot of our Facebook followers and people that are "Star Trek" fans and "Trekkies" have found out about it, and suddenly we have a big event on our hands."

The premiere goes at the Globe Cinema in Hillhurst, just off Kensington road at 645 8 Avenue S.W. starting at 6:30 P.M.

Wutzke says it's more than just sitting and watching the show, they've made it an event.

"We're going to have a little talk ahead of time. We're giving away some great door prizes ahead of time, all "Galaxy Trek" merchandise. And then we'll do the show and then do a Q & A afterwards."

"Galaxy Trek" was shot in Vulcan back in 2015 and features an all Alberta cast and crew and is a "Star Trek" like parody focusing on Vulcan's ties to the show.
