The Ruth Maccoy Cabin Garden in Sheppard Family Park is in a state of disarray, and the Sheppard Family Park Society is calling all gardeners, green thumbs and volunteers to come down and help breathe some life into the soil.

Work on the garden was originally planned for maintenance on October 12-13, but due to some wet weather and unexpected snow, the society has changed the date to Friday October 19 and Saturday October 20.

Ruth's Cabin is over 100 years old, and was originally built in 1883.

In 2016 the house was designated a historic site, after the garden was severely damaged by the 2013 flood.

Dealing with extensive damaged caused by a layer of silt brought in by flood waters, volunteers have been working to continually restore the garden.
