If you're looking to jump start the new year for your kids, the Town of High River can help with that.

Iva Woodward with the Town's programming department says there's lots of youth programs available to stay active in the winter.

"We have lots of youth programs going on like basketball, badminton, pickleball all for six to 15 year olds," she says. "(We have) New fitness classes coming out, baby and me yoga, prenatal yoga, which is the first time we're offering it and we've also got a really cool program coming up called Supergirls, it's all for the age group of 8 to 12 year-old girls with Jackie London, she's doing something with girls around that age and their self esteem."

Woodward says if finances are a struggle there's the Jump Start program available to help out there.

"Jump Start ranges for kids anywhere from 4 to 17 years old and it pay for anywhere from three to six hundred dollars per year, per child for any sport or any activity based program," she says.

Woodward says it's an easy process to go through and rarely are applications denied.

Information is available through the Town's facebook page.
