The Alberta government has launched a month-long online consultation to find out what Albertans think should be included in the education curriculum.

Education Minister David Eggen says they want to make sure students are being prepared for the work world of the future.

"Critical thinking is so important now you know because we have all the information we could ever get on our smart phones but you need to be able to make evaluations of what's real, what's not, what's important and what's not," Eggen says. "Future Ready is a chance for us to connect grade school education, post secondary into the job force together, we always try to do that but with the changing economy and a really big focus on education, we want to work together more closely with industry, colleges and so forth give kids some options of where they can go with their educations."

He says improving the quality of education and skills training will mean students are ready to succeed at school or in the workplace.

The online survey is available until Nov. 18, 2016.

The Wildrose party has said a month isn't long enough but Eggen says there will be lots more opportunities for feedback and consultations in the future.
