The Alberta Provincial Government announced that they're giving 3 million dollars to the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Jason Luan Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions says funds will be used to build and support recovery colleges across Alberta to increase access for addictions and mental health help.

“Recovery is a priority for our government. Albertan's deserve the ability to access the recovery services they need to help them live healthy, productive lives. These recovery colleges provide important supports from people with real experiences that help support long-term recovery.”

Recovery Colleges use community-oriented approaches, where people in recovery share what works and teach individuals and families the skills, tools and knowledge they need to improve their quality of life.

opposition is critical though, saying there's still not enough access in rural communities, where funding is sorely needed.

the closest recovery college is set to open in Lethbridge this September.
