A busy afternoon Monday, July 24, for three local fire departments as they battled a grass fire near Highway 2A south of 434 Avenue.

Crews from High River, Okotoks, and a pair from the M.D. of Foothills all responded to the large fire.

Deputy Fire Chief for the High River Fire Department, Trevor Allan, says he estimates the fire spread over 20 acres.

"We're still trying to get that information, it's kind of tough when you're in a rolling landscape like that but my early guess is probably in the 20-25 acres."

The fire, which took almost four hours to put out was on a privately owned property.

Allan says the High River Department is still working with the M.D. Of Foothills Fire Department to determine the cause of the fire.

The M.D. of Foothills is currently under a full fire ban.
